  • Tumescent Liposuction – Connecticut Fat Cells

    Dr. Collins

If you want to reduce the amount of fatty tissue in an area of the body, liposuction is an excellent choice. Our preferred technique for liposuction procedures is tumescent liposuction. With tumescent liposuction, you’ll have the option of undergoing the procedure in our office instead of at a hospital.

At the start of the tumescent liposuction procedure, tumescent fluid is introduced to the patient’s tissues via injection. This fluid contains epinephrine and lidocaine.

Epinephrine, also known as adrenaline, is a neurotransmitter and hormone that makes the capillaries in the treated area constrict, lessening bleeding during the procedure.

Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that serves the purpose of numbing the areas targeted for liposuction. The use of a local anesthetic means you’ll be able to avoid general anesthesia and that you’ll be awake during the procedure.
