This patient came in to see Dr. Collins for consideration of breast implants. After a long conversation, it was clear that really what this patient wanted was to improve the shape of her breasts and to move the nipple to a more attractive location on her breasts. She had plenty of volume in her breasts and really didn’t want to be any bigger. Instead of a breast augmentation, this patient had a breast lift/small reduction. By reshaping and redistributing the tissue that was already present in her breasts, the effect was that her shape was improved, her nipples were placed in an elevated more attractive position and the patient had the effect of implants without actually having implants. This is possible in patients who have good breast volume to begin, as she did.
