Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift After Unsuccessful Neck Treatments
This patient had spent years seeking improvement in her neck and the area beneath her chin. Despite multiple energy-based treatments and a previous surgical procedure elsewhere, she remained dissatisfied. She came to Dr. Beth Collins for an assessment of the underlying problem.
Her evaluation revealed fullness involving deeper neck structures, alongside volume loss in the prejowl sulcus—the hollow just in front of the jowl. Her plan addressed tissue sagging, deep neck fullness, and localized volume loss together.
Dr. Collins performed a deep plane face and neck lift with submandibular gland reduction and reduction of bulky tissue in the deep central neck. A hyoid fasciotomy helped elevate the hyoid bone and deepen the chin-to-neck angle. Midline platysma tightening and plication addressed the central neck muscles.
Facial fat grafting restored volume to the prejowl hollows, creating a smoother transition from the chin toward the angle of the jaw.
Her result shows improved neck definition and a more continuous jawline contour. This case highlights the importance of identifying the structures contributing to a patient’s concerns before selecting treatment.
