    Case Details

This young lady was getting ready for her wedding. She clearly started out beautiful, but she just wanted to look her absolute best for her big day. The thing that she noticed most in pictures is that she had some dark circles under her eyes. Dr. Collins attributed that to “Malar hypoplasia” or a flattened cheek as well as a “tear trough deformity” which is a fancy way of saying hollows under the eyes. She had a combination of different fillers to restore the volume in her cheeks and to add a subtle amount of volume to her tear trough so that it no longer cast a dark shadow. The cheek is a three dimensional structure that needs structural support and refinement. One syringe of filler will rarely give the patient the desired effect since one syringe only has about a fifth of a teaspoon of volume. The entire cheek needs more than this to effect a change. In this young lady’s case, four syringes of hyaluronic acid filler (Restylane and Juvederm) were used to rebuild and restructure the cheek and then refine the lower eyelid. Botox was then used to soften the creases on her forehead.
